Evangelism CommissionEvangelism begins with loving and serving in God’s Name.
|
Our Lord’s Great Commandments to us come to life in mission to our local community and region, and to the world. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment... And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself…” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Evangelism Committee
The Evangelism Committee maintains the Bulletin Board in the Lych Gate, provides greeters at both Sunday services, and hosts a dinner for newcomers – people who are new to St. Francis and/or people who are returning to St. Francis after an extended absence. The Greeters are scheduled by the Worship Leaders Coordinator. In addition, as part of the Newcomers Ministry, a tangible reminder is provided to visitors by the Evangelism Committee. Upon their visit to St. Francis, visitors are "mugged" on Sunday morning, meaning they are given a coffee mug and information about St. Francis!
Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a missionary and evangelism ministry of the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. In fact, it is the oldest evangelistic ministry of the Episcopal Church. Their goal is to bring men and boys to Jesus Christ. The Brotherhood at St. Francis is actively involved in a prison ministry. The Brotherhood goes to the Rutherford County Correctional Facility on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and has a dinner meeting at the Parish House on the Fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Daughters of the King
The Daughters of the King is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism. Our Phoebe Chapter of the Daughters of the King has been active at St. Francis since 1999. Missionary Support
St. Francis supports a number of missionaries serving throughout the world, in Hungary, Chile, and Mali. The Missionary Liaison stays in contact with the missionaries that St. Francis supports and keeps the parish informed on the activities and status of these missionaries.
