Service is an important part of the Christian faith. Check out some of the ways you can get involved and serve through St. Francis!
Backpack Program
A major initiative to provide hungry children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available.
Yokefellow
Yokefellow Service Center was organized in 1967 as an ecumenical Christian venture. Yokefellow’s purpose and mission is to aid, assist and counsel citizens in need within Rutherford County. In times of crisis, Yokefellow assists with food, clothing, fuel, utilities, medicine and rental assistance.
Welcome Table
Four churches have partnered together to present Welcome Table Rutherfordton, an opportunity for community members to enjoy a free and healthy meal. The four churches are First Baptist Church (Forest City), First Baptist Church (Rutherfordton), First United Methodist Church (Rutherfordton), and St. Francis Episcopal Church (Rutherfordton). A meal is served each week on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The meals are served at First United Methodist Church.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner
A Thanksgiving Meal is prepared in the Parish House of St. Francis Church each year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day. Prepared box meals are delivered to area apartment complexes that serve the elderly in the county, and many people come to St. Francis to sit, enjoy a meal, and experience fellowship while they eat.
